Listen To Your Gut

by , under Internet Marketing

Few months ago I perused Malcolm Gladwell’s popular book Blink. It’s about the power of intuition.

It starts with the story of an ancient Greek statue that was about to be purchased by the Getty Museum at $10M. The museum did all the normal background study to ascertain its genuineness. After 14 months of research, the museum staff concluded that the statue is genuine and proceeded ahead buying it.

But an art historian named Federico Zeri who was requested to see the statue at once he determined it was a fake. Two more art historians discerned it was a fake based on their first impressions. Additional researches were made and eventually it was discovered that the statue had been sculpted by forgers in Rome. The group of investigators who conducted the 14 months

of analysis turned out to be incorrect. The historians who relied on their first hunches, on the other hand, were correct.

One of the insights I learned so far in my internet marketing journey is to listen to my hunch. It’s not most of the time perfect but had I listened to my intuition I would not have exhausted so much time and effort pursuing dead-end internet business opportunities.

There was one expert I trusted because his instructions vibrate with me. I studied most of his free internet business resources and I waited excitedly for the launching of his much awaited system. I waited and waited for many months but he would not run out of reasons for withholding the launching. After several months of waiting I decided that it was already useless waiting for the reason that the guy seemed to be a perfectionist and his system will by no means be perfect. Had I heeded to my hunch earlier, I would not have spent much time waiting.

In many cases, intuition is the determining factor between failure and success. Though we don’t completely understand what intuition is, at the gut level we all know that it is there and we can tap it whenever desirable.

We all experience, from time to time, situations where we have to make a major decision in spite of lack of info.

We still ought to move in spite of vagueness and haziness. However, a mistaken turn could have unwelcome cost.

Much has already been published about how to nurture intuition. As I haven’t tested any of them, I can’t endorse them. Yet, as a Christian who tries to follow God’s leading, I find the Bible a useful guide.

Psalm 37:23-24 declares “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighted in his way.

Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.”

As we seek God’s leading in our lives and as we sharpen our intuition, even if we don’t succeed, from time to time, God is at all times there keeping us. Romans 8:28 declares “Everything works together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”
