Internet Marketing In Social Media

by , under Internet Marketing

Social media and the Web 2.0 in general has exploded over the last few years bringing up a new media in which a website has the chance of going viral. This means the website will be shared across many different interactive websites by the users that find the website interesting making it much easier to make money online. The problem is the difficulty of telling what websites will go viral and how to make a website actually be this accepted across the web. Some examples that I have found on my search across the web is webmasters and bloggers with the largest social networks seem to have a more likely chance of having their website noticed by others. This makes sense if you have 100,000 followers and only 10% retweet or tweet at all that would be 10,000 tweets about your website. If on the other hand you only have 5,000 followers on twitter and 10% retweet or tweet about your website this is only 500 tweets about your website. The chances of the websites URL going viral and being mentioned by millions increases with the amount of followers/friends/network the person who is running the website has.

There are two other variables when trying to get a website to go viral. The first is how do we utilize and grow our social networks and friends on other online communities. This is simple yet as I spend time on social websites I notice few follow the actual rules of being online. The first and most important rule when using a web 2.0 website is never spam. There is no exception to the rule if you spam no one will listen, retweet, and more than likely you will find yourself un-followed or removed. Some tips I have learned while on social websites is shyness gets you nowhere and be sure to be respectful of others at all times. Nothing will get you hated by all more quickly than being rude for no reason. Another important tip when trying to grow you community is participation if you don’t participate then your name will not be seen or recognized by anyone if you participate all the time it will be seen by the majority of members throughout the community and you will see your friends, followers, and network grow.

The second important variable when trying to go viral is the website itself. If you run a website which has absolutely nothing interesting or unique why in the world would anyone want to share it with their friends? Well the short answer is they won’t and if you want to do well it will take an extreme amount of money or time. Now if you have a very unique helpful website which supplies a necessary need on the web you can expect as your website meets people’s needs they will want to share it with others. A good example of this is amazon.com they supplied books and a huge selection of books as they helped more and more people they exploded and everyone started using the website for their book needs. Twitter is another great example of a website the actually made communicating easier than email and like amazon exploded over a short period of time through pure word of mouth. If you are able to do this you will explode your free web traffic and find your website making you a ton of money.
